Dote does not require a Dote account. Pet profiles, care schedules, health records, weight, expenses, and photos are stored on your iPhone and can sync through your own iCloud account when enabled. Dote has no ads; anonymous app analytics can be disabled in Settings.

Dote is a good fit when
- You want a native iPhone app without a new login.
- You are comfortable using your Apple account for optional iCloud sync.
- You want pet records kept out of advertising profiles.
Dote is not the right tool when
- You need Android sync or a browser-based shared household account.
- You require a cloud service that can recover data independently of your device and iCloud backup.
- You need all network communication disabled, including optional analytics and purchase services.
Local-first does not mean invisible trade-offs
Dote keeps the pet information you enter on your device. When iCloud is enabled, Apple syncs that data privately across your own devices. Dote does not operate an account database containing your pet profiles.
That model also means you are responsible for your device and iCloud backups. Dote cannot recover a deleted local record from an independent server.
Analytics are separate from pet records
Dote uses anonymous product analytics to understand broad app usage. Events do not include pet names, photos, or health details, and session replay is disabled. You can turn app analytics off in Settings.
On usedote.app, Google Analytics loads only after you choose “Allow analytics.” Advertising storage, ad personalization, and Google Signals are disabled. Read the full privacy policy for the current details.
