Dote is built to respect your privacy. We don't require an account, your pet's information stays on your device, and website analytics only run after you allow them.
No account or pet data collected
The app does not ask for your name, email, or any other personal information. There is no sign-up and no account. Your pets, care schedules, health records and photos are yours.
Your pet's data stays on your device
Everything you add — pet profiles, vaccine records, reminders, weight, expenses and photo memories — is stored locally on your iPhone. If you have iCloud enabled, this data syncs privately across your own devices through Apple's iCloud, governed by Apple's privacy policy. We never see or store it on our own servers.
App product analytics
To understand how the app is used and improve it over time, we collect anonymous usage events through PostHog (US Cloud, us.i.posthog.com). These events include things like:
- App install and onboarding steps completed
- A pet added, a care plan generated
- A care task completed, a health entry logged
- Paywall viewed, subscription purchased or cancelled
- Settings opened, analytics preference changed
Every event is tied only to an anonymous ID — no name, email, or device identifier is attached, and no pet names, photos or health details are included. Session replay and screen recording are turned off.
Analytics are on by default. You can turn them off at any time in Settings → Analytics inside the app. Opting out stops all event collection immediately.
Website analytics
On usedote.app, Google Analytics 4 only loads after you choose “Allow analytics.” It helps us measure page visits and which Dote App Store buttons are useful. Google Analytics may use a first-party _ga cookie and process a pseudonymous client ID, approximate location, browser and device information, page URL and referrer, and the location of the button you clicked.
We do not send Google your name, email, pet information, health information, or an identifier from the Dote app. Advertising storage, advertising personalization, and Google Signals are disabled for this website integration.
You can reject analytics without losing any site functionality, or change your choice at any time through “Analytics preferences” in the footer. Rejecting or withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection from this site.
No advertising
There are no ads in Dote. We do not share data with ad networks or use analytics to profile you across other apps or websites.
Payments
Subscriptions and eligible lifetime purchases are handled by Apple through StoreKit, with subscription state managed by RevenueCat. We never see or store your payment details. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.
Children
The app is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly use app or website analytics to collect names, contact details, pet records, or health information from children. Website analytics remain off unless the visitor chooses to allow them.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, we'll update this page and revise the effective date above.
